Charming Early 19th Century Child's High Chair, A.F.

This chair is absolutely charming, even in its incomplete condition. The chair has been constructed using a beautifully grained oak. The styling is just on the edge of the craze for Gothic details. The chair has a solid wood arched back, flanked with beautifully turned oak finials. The arms have holes drilled through and would have carried a safety bar to hold the child in. The turned legs have a metal that once would have had a foot plate attached for comfort. Nonetheless, the chair is quite delightful. There are shrinkage cracks and age related wear and patina throughout.
