Elegant Victorian Mahogany Shaving Stand c.1880
This Victorian mahogany shaving stand made circa 1880 is an incredibly practical piece to aid a gentleman’s grooming. Originally this would have been used as a shaving stand, but this could easily be placed in a bathroom or bedroom and used as either a shaving or makeup stand. The stand has a quadruped base with leaf carved and curved legs finishing in claw feet, the carving on the legs and the detail on the feet is superb. The table is supported by a barley twist column. There is subtle moulding to the table edge. The mirror is supported on an elegantly scrolling support, the angle of the mirror is adjustable. Perfect to add a touch of elegance to a room.
The height is 174 cm (from the floor to the table top is 101cm), the table is 40cm in diameter.
Good antique condition, some wear to sides and feet commensurate with age.
