Item Details
A rare figural mantel clock in a nautical theme, entitled 'Rescue, it features a section of ship, wrecked on a rock with a fisherman waiting to be rescued. Crafted in Spelter, with fine detail in the facial features, sinuous muscle, tattered draped clothes, bellowing sails, ship's rope and shells on the rocks. The French movement is in good working order, is housed within the rock modelled base. The clock face features a two-part dial with gilt centre and ivorine chapter inscribed with Arabic numerals. Most likely made by R&C of Paris and London. The clock is supported on an ebonized plinth and surmounted by the figure. The plinth has a small plaque with the title displayed.
