Item Details
This is a pair of highly decorated antique bellows, used for stoking fires. It features intricate carvings to the wood on the front, there are densely placed oak sprigs with acorns framing a shield with the entwined initials, M.S., the handle has reeded finish. The backplate is plain. The brass nozzle has a ribbed conical shape and has woven leather and brass pins attaching it to the body. The concertinaed leather has some movement, but would benefit Frome a conditioning cream. The leather is fitted to the body with brass pins. The oak has a rich patina throughout. There is air leaking somewhere, so the bellows are not at the moment completely functional. This is a superbly decorative piece.
