Item Details
A Regency teapoy (or poy) is a beautiful, antique rosewood box, designed to hold tea, sugar, and mixing bowls, they were very popular during the English Regency period (c. 1800-1830) as a luxurious tea-time accessory. This glorious example has a decagon shaped box with a hinged lid. The box tapers gently to its base, where it is supported on a beautifully truned pedestal and carned tripod feet. Beneath the hinged lid, the teapoy retains the rosewood and red velvet fittings. There are two zinc lined tea caddies with hinged lids and two circular spaces where a mixing bowl and possibly a sugar bowl would have been. Sadly the glass bowl are missing.
