This is a very unusual portable drinks cabinet or tantalus. Made in the early 1900's, it has a beautifully grained rosewood body that has been inlaid with bands of decorative brass. It also has brass escutcheons and vacant cartouches, some of the inlay is missing or is lifting. There are two campaigne style handles for lifting. The box has two lids to open, the top one gives access to a small area of storage, it has a rosewood lining and a small zinc lined box at the center. The larger lid opens to reveal the red silk velvet lined body with storage for six bottles or five bottles and a bowl. The box contains a mixed group of five decanters all missing their stoppers.
